Revisiting Our 2022 Shop Goals

In the final episode of Season 1 of the Big Plans Podcast we thought we would wrap up our first season by checking in with our 2022 Goals that we shared in Episode 1. We revisit our goals and evaluate how we’re doing so far, which goals have been major WINS for us and which goals we haven’t quite hit the target yet.

Revisiting Our Shop Goals for 2022

Lisa’s Goals

1. Buy a house

At the time this podcast aired, Lisa was still currently looking. UPDATE - Lisa purchased her first home at the end of Summer ‘22!

2. Have a social media content calendar

This wasn’t really working out the first two months of 2022. Then we hired a social media manager, Pearl, who helps us plan our content calendar. It’s been super helpful to have someone else think of content ideas, and just tell us what we need to create or film in terms of Reels.

3. Batch design more product releases

We were pretty good about this in Q1 of 2022. Designing takes a lot of time, especially for $2 Tuesdays, so it helps that we can recycle some designs from last year. Q2 was a little chaotic because one of us was out of office, and we were working on our eCourse. So designing took a back burner, but after launching the course we have more time to design.

4. Mental health

Lisa’s goal was to feel less like a hamster on a wheel and have better work-life balance. She feels overall that she is definitely working fewer hours compared to last year and with less covid restrictions there’s more things to do outside of the house. Self-care and taking care of your mental health is definitely a pillar of our company and we encourage not only ourselves but our employees and PR Team to take whatever time they need for their mental health and wellbeing.

5. Building a community

We feel like we’ve been doing a good job of this especially now that this is something our social media manager has been helping us with a LOT. She lets us know when there's messages or comments we need to respond to and helps us stay regularly engaged with our community.

Lucy’s Goals

1. Stay on top of finances - using Quickbooks regularly and update it monthly

This is still a work in progress - halfway through 2022 this wasn’t happening consistently yet, but Lucy planned to get to it soon and just needed to set aside the time.

2. Content Consistency

A huge YES! Mainly because we have a social media manager who does the majority of this and it forces us to batch produce content. We have a content calendar that we use consistently and have been putting out more educational content as well.

3. Designing 6 months out in advance

This hasn’t happened yet, but we also realize this was a very ambitious goal. However, we’re optimistic that we can achieve this at some point in the near future.

4. Double our 2021 revenue

This was TBD, because at the time we wrapped Season 1 we weren’t sure yet since it hadn’t been a whole year. We’ve definitely done well at increasing our streams of revenue during the year, i.e. launching our eCourse, our ads from Anchor, monetizing our YouTube channel, and our Amazon affiliate.

5. Reduce our workload

YES, we hired two people and it has helped us to streamline our processes and improve efficiencies. But hiring people has also freed up time for us to do more things, so we really aren’t reducing our workload - it’s reduced in some areas, but now we are able to grow in others and get to work on things that we didn't have time to do before.

We are really proud of how far we have come during the time span of the 18 episodes of Season 1 and we are so grateful to our audience for coming along on this ride with us. We’re really excited for Season 2 and to see what the future holds for our podcast! We’ve set a new goal for next season to batch record more episodes in advance and hopefully continue to make progress on our goals from Season 1.
