Sticker Guru Shop Goals for 2022 (& How To Set Your Own Goals)

Hey there!

It’s Lisa & Lucy, your favorite sister duo from Sticker Guru. We're so excited that this year we officially launched our first podcast, Big Plans Podcast. It's been a long time coming, and we're really proud of the work we've put into it.

We decided to start a podcast because we wanted to share what we've learned over the years about starting a small business and making big plans for yourself. We wanted to help other people who are interested in entrepreneurship, but maybe aren't sure where to begin or what kind of business they want to start—or even if they want to start one at all!

We hope that listeners will hear something they can relate to in each episode and feel inspired to push themselves to reach their dreams. We also hope that listeners will learn something from each episode that they can implement in their own businesses to continue growing.

Why We Started A Podcast

We started off this podcast journey by researching some tools that would make it easy for us to set up a podcast without having to spend hours learning how to use them. The first thing we found was Anchor, which is an online tool that lets you record and edit podcasts right within your browser. It has a really intuitive interface, and it's super easy to use—it's basically like making an audio post on Instagram.

After setting up our account with Anchor, we started doing some research into the different types of content we could create, and how often we should publish new episodes. Once all of that was figured out, it was time to start recording!

The first episode was pretty rough around the edges (we'll admit it), but we have gotten much more comfortable with speaking and using our microphones. We have a structure and flow that feels natural to us, and allows us to hit all of our main points.

In our first episode of Season 1 we discussed our shop goals for 2022. Listen to the episode below (available on all podcast listening platforms) or keep reading.

Our Shop Goals for 2022

Lisa’s Goals

  1. Buy a house

This is not only so that she has a place to live while building equity, but she can also start having people come help out with production and packaging.

  1. Have a social media content calendar

The goal is to post more consistently on our social media accounts, as well as planning things out in advance for batching purposes.

  1. Batch design more product releases

We typically have new releases every week, so the hope is that batching will allow us to get ahead in designing.

  1. Mental health

We really struggle with work life balance so Lisa’s goal is to work less hours in order to improve her mental health.

  1. Building a community

We love the #stickergurufam, but we are the first to acknowledge that we often don’t have time to interact with the fam. Lisa wants to work on building up our community by being more engaged with our followers.

Lucy’s Goals

  1. Stay on top of finances

She mainly is referring to keeping her Quickbooks updated monthly and keeping track of expenses, to make everything easier for tax time.

  1. Consistent Content

Like Lisa, Lucy also wants to batch produce content. She also wants to have a content calendar and create more educational content.

  1. Double our 2021 revenue

This goal is self explanatory and a little bit scary, but your dreams should always scare you a little bit, right??

  1. Designing 6 months out in advance

This is also an ambitious goal, but the hope is that we will have our product releases planned and designed further in advance. Currently, it’s a hamster wheel of struggling to get each week’s releases out.

  1. Reduce our workload

This could include a number of things like hiring someone, working to streamline and improve processes to be more efficient, outsourcing, cutting things that aren’t working, etc.

Set Your Own Goals

We've been working on our goals for the new year and we wanted to share with you what we did so that you can do it too. It's a pretty simple process, but it's one that will help you set your intentions and create a plan to achieve them.

When setting goals, you have to make sure that you have the right intentions. Your goals should be specific, realistic, and measurable.

When it comes to your goals, it's easy to get excited about something and just go for it! But if you don't take the time to think through exactly what you want your goal to be, then there's a good chance that whatever you're aiming for won't be achievable. And if it isn't achievable, then what's the point of setting a goal?

Think about what you want from your goal. What is the outcome that will make reaching this goal worth your while?

You also want to make sure that your goals are realistic—that they're something that is actually attainable. If your goal is too lofty or too vague, then it may not be something that can actually happen. But it’s okay to DREAM BIG!

Once you've decided on what your intentions are for achieving a goal and made sure it's realistic, then set yourself up for success by establishing a deadline by when you want to reach it! Make sure that this deadline gives yourself enough time so that if things don't go exactly as planned (and they probably won't).

Next, you’ll want to identify the steps you will need to take to reach your goal. This is pretty straightforward: if you want to run a marathon, you need to train for it; if you want to lose weight, you need to eat healthier and exercise more; if you want to get a promotion at work, you need to work hard and show up consistently.

Once you know what actions are required of YOU in order to achieve your goal, then you can evaluate your progress along the way so far. If everything has gone according to plan so far (and why wouldn't it?!), then great! But if not—or even if everything HAS gone according to plan–it’s always good to reflect. This will help you recognize how you could improve. If necessary, you can also redefine your goal based on what you've learned along the way (this can happen many times).
